American witches and wizards enjoy many of the same culinary delights as no-maj folks, but there are some treats that are unique to them. Below is a list of foods that are only enjoyed by magical people.
*Roasted frog-headed Hodags- The frog-headed Hodag is a beastly creature that doesn't seem like it would be very tasty to eat, but they are quite delicious. Hunting them can be a bit dangerous, which makes them even more of a delicacy. A popular way to prepare them is to completely dress them, removing the skin, head, tail, and internal organs and roasting them over the fire. Roasted Hodag is often served on special occasions like birthdays or when a student graduates from Ilvermorny. It is also served at Ilvermorny during special events.
*Pumpkin Rolls- Pumpkin rolls are thick cake rolls filled with a creamy sweet cheese filling or vanilla cream. A popular brand of pumpkin rolls is Litenfeild Pumkin Rolls. The brand was established in 1922 by Henry Litenfeild at his bakery in New Philadelphia. Litenfeild Pumkin Rolls are single-serving sized rolled cakes filled with a fluffy vanilla cream cheese mousse. They are sold in boxes of thirteen and are individually wrapped in golden packages that have a dancing pumpkin man on the front of each of them.
*Peanutty Pukwudgies- Much to the dismay of Pukwudgies everywhere, there are small peanut butter and chocolate versions of them sold in wizarding candy shops across the nation. They are filled with a wonderful peanut butter cream and covered in a coat of rich, dark chocolate, but be careful! They are spry and will jump right out of their wrapper and run off if you're not careful. Oh, and for those with an even more adventurous pallet, there are Crunchy Wudgies! They are filled with crunchy peanut butter. BEWARE! They bite!
*Cauldron Corn- Americans love their popcorn! And so do wizards and witches of the nation. Cauldron Corn is a crispy, salty, sweet, magical version of the classic favorite, kettle corn. Cauldron corn is packaged in little paper sacks, and it pops when you shake it. When the bag is done popping, the cauldron corn is hot and ready to be eaten. It comes in various flavors like traditional sweet and salty, three cheese, ragin' cajun, ranch, and hot wasabi.
*Liam Wonker Confections- In 1964, British author Roald Dahl published a book about a seemingly magical candy maker and his crazy factory of delights, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It became quite a popular children's book among both non-magical and magical children alike. No-maj people were told that it was inspired by a war between two top chocolate companies in England. In truth, that was simply a cover story. You see, in Mr. Dahl's youth, he knew a wizard named Liam Wonker who was a wonderful candy maker. Mr. Wonker did not limit his candies to magical children alone, for he loved children no matter if they knew magic or not. He also happened to be Mr. Dahl's neighbor and the true inspiration for Willy Wonka. In fact, many of Liam Wonker's candies inspired the zany treats that Willy Wonka created in his factory. Due to the popularity of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Liam Wonker's candy sales took off, and his company grew. When the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was released in 1971, the demand for Liam Wonker's candies spread to the wizarding population of the U.S. However, his candies were no longer enjoyed by non-magical folk due to secrecy laws that forbid the selling of magical items to non-magical people.
Some of the the treats created by Liam Wonker's Confections include: Never-ending Yap Trappers, Floating Cloud Cotton, Fizzy Floater Soda, Flavor Changers Chewing Gum, Well-I'll-Be-A Spittin' Rainbows Bubble Gum, Tongue Tickling Taffy, and various chocolate sweeties.
*Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans- Oh yes! Bertie Botts caters to the U.S. of A. as well! But in the U.S. these tasty yet tricky little beans include flavors like Tangy Buffalo Wings, Hot Buttered Popcorn, and Spicy Chili dog among others.
*Whitmore's Witch's Brew- It's beer, and it is probably the best beer in the whole damn U.S. The secret is in the hops. The hops used in Whitmore's can only be found by wizards as they have magical properties.
Goblet Guzzlers- Goblet Guzzlers is a brand of soda that is enjoyed by American wizards and witches everywhere. There are flavors like cola, root beer, vanilla cream, orange, grape, and love potion number nine!
