Rules Apply to All Areas of the Board (if you have any questions, please submit all inquiries to Headmistress Lola Ebonywood.)
1: Bullying
This should go without saying, but bullying or harassing in any way will not be permitted. If you have an issue with another member, please take it to me, your headmistress (Headmistress Lola Ebonywood), or another staff member so that issue may be dealt with properly.
NO-
Sexism/Homophobic comments
Racism
Religious or Political bullying
Derogatory (sexual/distasteful) comments
Making fun of others' writing abilities (Some of us are still learning how to be good writers and it is more helpful to offer tips than it is to put someone down.)
Fighting/bickering/arguing
Bringing drama in from anywhere else
Failure to be compliant may result in being banned from the board. First offense is a warning. Second offense is being banned for 3 days. A third offense will result in a permanent ban.
2: No arguing with staff members
Staff members are here to do a job, and if they see anyone breaking any rules, they must do something about it. They are here to help keep things running smoothly and should be generally unbiased and fair. However, if there is an issue with a staff member, bring it to your headmistress/admin.
3: No Cheating
Cheating includes, but is not restricted to:
Bribing or accepting bribes
God-modding (trying to control a character other than your own)
Scamming
Applying for more accounts than allowed via the use of false information
4: No Inappropriate Content
Keep things tasteful! This is a board for people of all ages. If you wouldn't read it in the Harry Potter books, keep it out of Ilvermorny! No sex, extreme violence, talk of suicide, murder, or profanity. (Yes, I know there was mild swearing in the Harry Potter books, and that is okay, but keep it limited; you can say “Character Name cursed under his breath.” for example, but please don't drop the f-bomb.
5: No Hacking
Don't hack into my board. Period.
6: Copyrighted Material
Please do not steal anything that is copyrighted from this board or use copyrighted material here. I don't want to be sued. If you made the image, once it is posted, it is yours. No one has the right to steal it, which goes for anything that anyone else makes. Credit will be given to anyone who creates any type of material, be it images, writing, music, whatever someone posts.
7: Privacy
Please do not give out private information about yourself or anyone else, especially someone who is under 18 years of age.
8: Face Claims
There will be a list of faces that have already been claimed. Before choosing an actor/actress to represent your character, please check that list. This helps us avoid confusion. Once you have chosen a face, you cannot change it. Once your character has been approved, the name of the actor or actress will be listed in face claims next to your character. No one else can use it. However, if you go inactive for an extended period of time without notifying staff, then your face claim will be deactivated.
9: Job Claims
If you are interested in playing an adult character, there is a forum in information on the types of wizarding jobs available. Once a position is filled, the name of the character holding that position will be posted so that newcomers know what jobs are still open.
12: OOC and IC
Keep In Character posts in the In Character Forums. Out of Character posts go in Out of Character forums
10: Multiple Accounts
Staff members may have 3 accounts total: Their staff account and two character accounts.
Non staff members may have two.
If anyone is found using false information to create extra accounts, they will be permanently banned via IP address.
If there is more than one person in your household playing, then staff must be information and there must be some sort of proof provided of this.
11. Role Play Perspective
Role play here is done in the third person limited past tense perspective.
Example: Headmistress Lola picked up her wand.
Remember, you only have control over the thoughts and feelings of your own characters, hence the limited aspect of the perspective. Your character can acknowledge the feelings or actions of another character only when they are expressed by the owner of said character.
12. No Mary-Sues. Everyone has imperfections that make them unique. Your character should too. He or she is not the center of everything; however, if you want to be part of a plot that you have hashed out with other members of the board, that is fine, but there is no central plot with a protagonist here like there was in the Harry Potter novels. You can't make up some grand story that will effect everyone on the board. If at any time the staff members decide to create a central plot, it will be posted, and if you are interested in being involved, then there will be a chance for you to do so.
Rules are subject to change.
Now that you have read the rules, please send a PM to your Headmistress Lola Ebonywood with the words 'Silent River'. I will then ask you a question about the rules. You must do this before your first character is approved.
